This summer has been a beautiful reminder that when we invest in our young people, strengthen our families, and cultivate meaningful partnerships, there is no limit to what the METCO community can achieve.

Dr. Shavers previously spent six years as a school counselor in Lexington, facilitating support groups for METCO students and students of color and co-developing a K–5 anti-racism curriculum.

"This summer I am looking forward to learning more of the Igbo language and working to make sure I can have my first year of college free."

Jhaizer will study Human Physiology with aspirations to pursue a career in the medical field, and Jhainier plans to study sports journalism.
