Meet Dr. Efe Igho-Osagie Shavers, Wellesley METCO Director

Dr. Shavers brings a wealth of experience in educational equity, counseling psychology, and student advocacy to her new role. Prior to joining Wellesley Public Schools, she served as the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging for Milton Public Schools and was a University Lecturer and Researcher at Boston University.
A dedicated advocate for METCO, Inc. students, Dr. Shavers previously spent six years as a School Counselor in Lexington Public Schools, where she facilitated support groups for METCO students and students of color and co-developed a K–5 anti-racism curriculum. Her commitment to the METCO community is further reflected in her doctoral research, which focused on the experiences and impact of the METCO program on Black students.
Dr. Shavers is passionate about creating identity-affirming learning environments where every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As she begins this exciting new chapter in Wellesley, we look forward to partnering with her and celebrating the impact she will make for students, families, and the METCO community.
