Alumni Spotlight: Alhassan Bangura

Swampscott METCO alumnus Alhassan Bangura is a senior at Syracuse University majoring in Political Science with a concentratino in Political Economy. A dedicated student leader, Alhassan has held numerous leadership roles across campus, including multiple presidential positions, where he has helped shape student engagement, strengthen organization, and foster meaningful dialogue. His passion for leadership, communication, and strategy has guided his work at the intersection of institutional engagement and community impact.

During his final semester, Alhassan participated in Syracuse University's Maxwell D. C. Program, interning with the University's Governmental Affairs team and gaining firsthand experience in federal policy and its impact on higher education.

Reflecting on his journey and latest TED talk, Alhassan shared, "In many ways, this talk feels like a summary of the last 22 years of my life. Every experience, conversation, setback, opportunity, and space I have occupied helped shape the perspective I speak from and way I have come to understand the world around me."
