WHO ARE WE?

New and seasoned METCO parents, striving to increase parent participation in the funding process.

WHY DO WE EXIST?
Our elected state legislators and the Governor decide the budget for the METCO program every year.  For the past 20 years, they have level-funded or cut the funding for our children’s education and transportation three times more often than increases have been approved.  WE, THE PARENTS HAVE THE POWER TO ADVOCATE FOR THE EQUITABLE FUNDING.

GOALS

  • Be active year round in the funding process.
  • Work in conjunction with the METCO, Inc. staff and the METCO Directors Association to organize and inform METCO parents and supporters.
  • Build partnership with other organizations.
  • Continue our dialogue about the METCO Program with elected officials and candidates running for elected offices.

MPLC membership is open to all parents.  We always need new ideas. Please join us in these endeavors as we continue to make METCO a meaningful and rewarding experience for all.

Please stay tuned and revisit our website for updated schedules for METCO Parents Legislative Committee meetings.

All meetings begin at 7:00PM and are held at METCO, Inc., 40 Dimock St., Roxbury, MA  02119.  Please note meetings can be postponed due to weather conditions.  For more information: MPLC@metcoinc.org
